Going away...

I got to use my creative juices on this one. A friend's sister was moving away. So, I made a homemade French Vanilla cake, in the shape of a suitcase, which help 'stickers' of her favorite things in Omaha/life. I loved doing this cake!

Wedding Elegance

My dear friend, Cat, got married the other day and I had the honor of baking and decorating her cakes. She had three cakes, all different sizes. She was going for the more 'rustic' look, so it was more of a wavy look, instead of the smooth frosting look that you normally see.
We kept is simple with some deep purple 'lilies'. I made these with Royal Icing, to help them keep their shape a bit better. Congrats Cat!!

1st Birthday...Smash Cake included...

Nicholas is turning One and he loves Monsters Inc!

His smash cake is 'Mike'.
The rest of the group got to eat this cake, in the shape of a '1' and decorated like 'Sully'.

Football Cake Balls

I've made these a couple times now! I also keep any extra cake that I have left over in the freezer for these types of things...and it worked out great for a Super Bowl Party! And no, you can't just use the 'cake ball makers'. Real cake balls are mashed up cake, with frosting mixed in, and then dipped in almond bark or candy chocolate. I tried to use cookie frosting for the 'laces', but using regular frosting in a piping bag ended up working way better!

I also made some Easter themed cake balls as well. I put the finished cake balls in an Easter Basket, which made the delivery look awesome (but I forgot to take a picture of that).

Star Wars Lego Cake

"B" Man had a birthday! And he loves Star Wars Legos. I didn't exactly know how this was going to turn out, as creating a Lego dude is definitely not the easiest thing that I've done, but I think that it turned out ok. 'B' Man loved it, so that's what really matters. The legos and 'yoda' are made out of fondant.

Bacon Cake??

A family friend was having a birthday. It was in March and he is definitely Irish (hence the clovers and the green and orange). Along with that, they were having a Bacon themed party. So, this cake was made with BACON!! And lots of it. An entire pound to be exact! I don't know that I would love this cake, and next time, I will try a different recipe with some maple or peanut butter frosting, but it served the right purpose!

Because this was for a family friend, and him and I have an ongoing saying of 'Bite Me', I only found it fitting that I took a bite out of the cake and label it that way. Good thing the Birthday Boy was the one who ate that piece. (He was kind enough to send me a picture.)

Choo Choo Trains!

Owen turned 2! And his mom had some awesome train candles to add to the cake! I loved doing this cake. It was simple but turned out so cute!

Another cake for Sweet Saydee!

It's Saydee's birthday again and her mom asked me to create a cake. She was having her party at a dance studio. This was my first attempt creating a 'figurine' out of fondant. I definitely need to continue to work on that, as the girl/dancer was very fragile.
