Gaudy Birthday Cake

I feel like I need to put a disclaimer on this cake.  Although it was Holly's birthday, and I did make this cake for her, I didn't really decorate it for her. I just wanted to try a few things, to see what they might look like on a cake, and this is what it ended up looking like.  It is VERY gaudy, and I would not normally put all of this on one cake, but it was fun to practice.  So, Happy Birthday Holly!

Baby of Jesus Cake

This cake was fun to do.  Although I am a Christian, and love the Lord above, it was fun to be creative with this cake.  This was for a girl who shares her birthday with Christmas, hence the pink bow on the baby in the manger.  For this cake, I also made a fudge filling, which I got some good reviews on. This is a good thing, as the last fudge filling that I made did not turn out so good, so I am grateful that I have a different recipe that is easy and tastes good!  I would change a few things about this cake, but it did turn out fairly cute.  Practice makes perfect...and I still need a lot of practice, but it is fun.

To My Boss

This cake was for my boss.  She had requested a Chocolate Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.  I finally found a fairly successful homemade Chocolate cake recipe, and was told that it was very good.  The Cream Cheese Frosting was a little hard to work with, as why this is probably not my best looking cake, but the frosting was a huge hit, so after a few alterations, we might be able to get it to the point where it still tastes good and is not so soft. It was a challenge to frost this cake, as the it was super moist and the frosting was a little to soft, but even with those issues, I think that it still turned out cute.

A Birthday Cake for Mom!

I made this cake for a friend, so that they could celebrate his mom's birthday.  She passed away this year, but they still wanted to have a small celebration in honor of her life.  I still need to work on the writing, but I thought that the roses turned out a lot better than I thought that they were going too.
